WHY WE DO IT
Welcome to Think Little Farm, a small ecologically forward farm nestled on 10 acres in the heart of Kentucky. We are passionate about growing high-quality, healthful produce while promoting sustainable farming practices. In his essay “Think Little,” Wendell Berry proposes a new way to “correct our abuses of each other and of other races and of our land.” He suggests that we, as farmers, members of a community, people, should consider thinking little as a way to not only do with what we have in an attempt to be kinder to the earth, but to also think little as a way to be introspective. That is, to begin with ourselves and our own missteps when attempting to figure out larger issues of climate and marginalization.

And so, as Mr. Berry would say, we are farming small in an attempt to "improve a piece of the world" for ourselves, our community, and our Earth. We want to meet you and talk with you. We want to be neighborly with you. And more than anything, we want to grow the best food using the fewest inputs for you and your family.

Think Little with us, ya'll.
Farmer Mike
Mike started growing things about ten years ago. At first, he did silly things like starting carrot seeds in 72 cell trays and planting tomatoes in February, but he learned some things and can at least hang with the real growers now. He's been a college English teacher, a marketer, an outdoor recreation retail store manager, and a video editor. He's most proud of being a farmer. He is a voracious consumer of written wisdom (mostly by fellow Kentuckian Wendell Berry), likes pizza in any and all forms, and is basically just a kid living in an above average adult sized body.

He is the head farmer and co-owner at Think Little Farm, and is the production assistant and podcast editor for the No-Till Growers podcast "Growers Daily" with Farmer Jesse.

He has been known to shove large handfuls of arugula into his mouth out in the field when he thinks no one is watching.

Farmer Marinda
Marinda is co-owner, farmer, and basically the rubber cement that holds Think Little Farm together. She's the practical and smart one, and often has to talk Farmer Mike out of doing something completely ridiculous and, in hindsight, not-at-all good for the farm. She's a full time nurse, mother, and Taylor Swift fan.

She loves flowers and hopes to expand the cut flower part of Think Little Farm in the coming years. As any good Utah native, she likes to ski, hike, camp, and just be outdoors as much as possible. Her favorite Kentuckyish things to do are rescuing turtles as they cross the road, watching fireflies in the pasture on June evenings, and working to cultivate a believable Appalachian accent.

She has been known to horde the strawberry harvest and not share a single one with her beloved husband.
